Sanibel Part III

OK folks here is the last group of photos from Sanibel. I will just have to go out and find some other interesting thing to do and blog about.


I got this dump truck for Parker at a thrift store for $1. He took it everywhere.

One morning, my sister Teresa took me to Blind Pass. I hadn't been there since they let the water back in and I knew there would be some good stuff to find. However, I had the tides all wrong so I didn't have much luck. It was beautiful though.

I did find my first Kings Crown Conch there. BUT there was a fiesty crab inside so I left him.

One of our last nights there, we all went to the lighthouse.

The morning we packed up, we had a bit of ice cream left. So we let the kids go at it while we cleaned up. It was so much fun watching them eat from the container :)

Well, back to real life...

Sanibel Finds

I am STILL cleaning shells from our Sanibel trip...but I LOVE it! We had so many this year - my niece and my mom were right there with me so we have quite a collection.

Here are some rinsing in the sink.

I do a small amount of bleach in with some hot water...then rinse in cold water.

It is quite a process.

Here are some of my favorite finds, including a King Crown Conch which I found for the first time this year.

There is such a variety found on Sanibel Island. I have been to many beaches in Florida and I am still exploring, but I have yet to find a spot with so many different varieties of shells.

1920's Gala and Anna Maria Island

Hey everyone - hope your weekend was as fun and adventerous as ours was.
We had something fun to do each day, which is how I like it!

On Friday night, Husband and I did a dinner on the docks across the street from our place.

We rode our bikes across the causeway to explore...

This is the Rusty Pelican. Many couples get married in this beautuful spot.

Near there is a hotel with a nice dock where we managed to set up our dinner :)

Our view. The sound of the waves hitting the rocks is just perfect.

We stayed until dark but it was ok because we had candle.

Saturday night we were invited to a 1920's themed Gala. It was so fun dressing up!

Our good friends Jenn and Alan invited us. Don't they look fabulous?

The men did some gambling after dinner.

Sunday we decided to go on an adventure. We have so many beautiful spots to visit on this coast of Florida, so we are trying to see something new whenever possible.

We headed over to gorgeous Anna Maria Island.

And we found this perfect spot to swim. You may not be able to tell from here but the sandbar went out for a couple miles and we walked all the way out.

These homes definitely have the best spot!

We brought our bikes so we could explore.

We saw a lot of beautiful homes right on the water...

And we saw a lot of unique homes. I love when people do different things like this and show their personality. Beach toys and drinking...of course those two things go together!

I didn't create this but I thought it was pretty.

Mom and I took a bike ride one morning to the lighthouse. It was quite a long ride considering we were staying near Tarpon Beach. I know some of my fellow bloggers who live over there will know just how long it really is!

Along the way, we saw this guy. He was dead but we did see another one like him later in the week, who WAS alive. In total, we saw about 6 or 7 snakes during our trip!!

Sanibel 2010 Part I

FINALLY I am able to post some of my Sanibel photos! I have had major internet problems this week and therefore was not able to post anything until now...

Our trip was amazing. We spent a whole week together doing NOTHING. Well, we did things, but only when we wanted to. There were no phone calls or bills to pay. Now it's back to reality but thankfully I can look back and remember through pictures.
