10 Years

This weekend we headed up to Umatilla for Husband's 10 year High School Reunion. Time really goes by so fast doesn't it?
Husband has kept in touch with a lot of his high school friends throughout the years, many that we still see on a regular basis. But we were so happy to see others that have moved farther away or have just been busy working and starting families. We attended the high school football game on Friday night and on Saturday we all went to dinner followed by a bonfire in Husband's backyard. Good times :)

Baker's Pie

Last weekend my family came up from Ft. Lauderdale to see Husband and I. We had so much fun, I can't wait until they live closer.

One of the first things my mom and I did was bake a couple of pies in honor of my Grandma Baker. We went with apple of course ;)
My grandmother gave me a few tips in the last couple of years about pie baking...she also gave me an apple corer and her rolling pin. I had a great time working my mom on these pies and an even better time eating them!


Mom did all the apples because I had to run out at the last minute and buy flour for the crust. That's how I do things...







The crust came out well...I will tell you, there is quite a difference in making the crust in FL versus Michigan. (See the rolling pin?)

One of the finished pies. Delicious. We put sugar on both the crusts but on one of them we also added cinnamon. That was a good idea.

Family Time

It's time for a more upbeat post here! Last weekend Husband and I spent time in his hometown with his Grandmother, Aunt and Cousins from Hungary.

It was so nice to spend time with family and hang out with young people! We took the girls, Sheila and Laura, kayaking down Alexander Springs Run. Sunday after church we played baseball and drew with chalk all over Grandmom's driveway. We really had so much fun being kids again.

Grandad Gower

We have recently had more sad news in our family. Husband's Grandfather passed away last week at the age of 91. I am thankful to have gotten to know Grandad a bit since we have been married. I knew him to be very patient, kind and humorous. He served our Country and taught preschoolers in Sunday school for 60 years.

Grandad and Grandmom were married for 64 years. What a blessing. I hope and pray that husband and I will be able to enjoy this life together for that long.

You are loved and missed Grandad.

For Baker

This last week has been a tough one. Our Grandma Baker passed away at the age of 89.

She has not been well for quite some time now and I am glad she is able to go home to God. However, she is greatly missed. She taught me a lot and she had a great sense of humor. I will have to bake a pie soon in her honor. I love you Baker.

We have also been celebrating as well...my Grandma Kroncke is 90 years old this month! We were able to see her this past weekend along with lots of family that we do not get to see often. Happy Birthday Grandma! We love you.

One last thing - Congratulations to our friends Jen and Alan who were married Sunday in Lakeland, FL. Their wedding was beautiful. Husband and I were honored to share that special time of their lives with them.
They are now on their honeymoon in Costa Rica and I hope they are having the time of their lives.

Tiny's Coquina Frame

I did get to do a project this week after all.
While we were in Sanibel on vacation, my niece picked up all of these Coquina shells - there were thousands and thousands on the beach that week.

So I thought a frame with all of her shells would be a good gift idea. Her Birthday is in a couple weeks (Parents of Tiny - don't let her see this yet!)


Anyway, this is perfect for Tiny because she is small and these shells are too.

I love her.

Baby's Ear

My mom found a special shell in Sanibel - A Baby's Ear. It is a beautiful shell - quite delicate and unique.

I put it on a silver chain. It reminds me of the necklace in The Little Mermaid that Ariel's voice gets captured and stored in...maybe that's where my singing voice is ha ha.

I have lots to do today but I am also feeling crafty. Maybe I can work on some projects today.
