NC

I am so blessed to be able to see my niece and nephew as often as I do considering they live in North Carolina and I live in Florida.`Although I would love to be able to see them every day.

They are so much fun to be around:) For this visit, I tried to plan as many fun things as I could since we were only able to see them for a few days.

I got some great ideas from some fellow bloggers!

I actually found these lollipops at Target. Too funny.

I got this project from The idea room. SLIME. They loved it. I loved it. It glowed in the dark.

We decorated pumpkins.

Grandma took this very seriously.

The kids dressed up in their costumes for a neighborhood hayride. Parker is a phantom and Tiny is Super Girl.
We had to say goodbye so we could head up to our cabin in the mountains. I guess the kids have school or some nonsense....

Dinner on the Docks

Husband and I have done this twice now, which obviously makes it a tradition.

When we first moved here, we were out here every night watching the sunset and that has definitely slowed down because of busy schedules I suppose.

We are currently living in this beautiful location and we don't know how long we will be here so we are committed to enjoying it as much as possible.

Thus, we have decided that at least once a month we will have - Dinner on the Docks.
Last night we did this and the weather was awesome and the food was delicious.

I am off to NC tomorrow to visit my niece and nephew so I will see ya'll in about a week with lots of pictures!

Small Town, Great Guy

This is Umatilla.
Well, actually it is Lake County but Umatilla is the town that Husband was born and raised in.

My mom is cool because she knows we have a slight map obsession and she got this for husband last Christmas.

This past weekend she framed it for us and now we get to see it every day in our kitchen.
Thanks mom!

Little Things

I really don't know what to do with my bathroom.

I was looking for my fall shower curtain this morning and I can't find it, so I made this one be the fall shower curtain.

These are our little pumpkins. We need a big one but this is all for now :)

The weather has been absolutely perfect here in Tampa. I wish it would last...

All in all it has been a productive week for me. I hope you all had the same.

And I hope everyone enjoys the weekend. Don't forget to relax!

Food Inspired

Yesterday I was inspired while looking at some of my regular blogs.

I was FOOD inspired! Meg at Whatever had this delicious dessert recipe posted and I thought, 'hey Cheryl, you have most of those ingredients....make that!'

So I wrote it down and got to work.

3 WHOLE Delicious sticks of butter. Paula Deen would be so proud.

Got my apples.
Made the flour, sugar, butter combination all crumbly like she said.

Pressed 1/2 of that mixture into my pan.

Peeled and cut my apples.

Sprinkled my sugar, cinnamon combination on top. I cheated a little and added some brown sugar too ;)
Covered the apples with the remaining flour crumble mixture and baked at 350 for 50 min.

And WA LA! I did not have the confectioner's sugar for the icing but no need to worry, these non-glazed apple bars were so sweet and delicious.

Husband and I ate them until we felt sick lol. I will bring the rest home to the family this weekend.

Thanks for sharing the recipe Meg!!

October Decor

Just a few Halloween/Fall decorations.

I got these little pumpkins a few years back and I just save them and reuse them every year.
A pretty wise purchase if you ask me!

That is the bucket the candy is kept in!

I am curious, what does everyone have planned for Halloween this year? What are we all dressing up as?

Michigan Recap

It has been a while, I know.
So long that it is already Fall for most of the country. Definitely in Michigan. It was 45 degrees when I left on Saturday. It was so pretty and I was able to see my grandparents and Aunt and Uncle.

This is my grandparents house back before they bought it - probably around 1903.

This is my great-grandmothers baking cabinet.
In that cupboard on the left is where you stored the flour and on the right there is a container for sugar.

So whenever I go to Michigan, I go crazy and bake a lot of pies. It just feels right there lol.
We went to the orchard and got a half bushel of apples. I had no idea a half bushel was a huge amount.

Mom did all the hard work.

I rolled the dough - which is way easier to do there than in FL for some reason.

These apples were perfect for pie.

So good. We also made a blueberry pie with fresh blueberries and a peach cobbler with peaches from a tree on my Uncle's property. We ate those too quickly to take pictures.

Me and my grandfather, who just turned 91.

I always rummage through all the goodies on the 3rd floor to see what I can see.

This year, my sister is having a 40's themed Halloween Party and I think I found the perfect attire.

Hats AND dresses!
They are tiny but I think I just might manage to fit into a couple:)
